GENERAL SAFETY PRACTICES
1. One of the best ways to implement laboratory control measures is by instituting good laboratory hygiene guidelines and practices.
These guidelines and practices will help all lab employees observe precautions to minimize all chemical exposures.
B. (Company Name) has adopted the following guidelines and prudent practices to be followed by all laboratory personnel:
1. Avoid unnecessary exposure to chemicals through any route by using safe habits
1. Employees should avoid working alone in the facility or lab particularly if the procedures performed are hazardous.
2. Eating, drinking, smoking, gum chewing, or application of cosmetics in laboratory is prohibited.

EMPLOYEE INFORMATION AND TRAINING
B. Information - Employees shall be informed of the following:
1. The contents of the federal standard 1910.1450 - Occupational Exposure to Hazardous
Chemicals in Laboratories. (See Appendix A)
2. The location and availability of this chemical hygiene plan.
3. The permissible exposure limits for OSHA regulated substances used in the work area. In the absence of an OSHA
standard, other sources with recommended exposure limits shall be use.
(e.g.. NIOSH, ACGIH) (See Appendix D).
MEDICAL CONSULTATION AND MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS
RECORDKEEPING REQUIREMENTS
REVIEW OF THE CHEMICAL HYGIENE PLAN
A. (Chemical Hygiene Officer) shall be responsible for the review and update of this plan.
This review shall be performed (Time) .
(Note: must be done at least annually.)
The review shall include but not be limited to the following.
1. Chemical inventory list is up to date;
2. Chemical Hygiene Officer is being notified of any new hazardous chemicals being introduced into the laboratory;
